Missions Overview

Ministry, Missions, and Evangelism

Our church supports a number of mission and outreach activities, locally, nationally and globally. The items listed below are our "line items". These missions are supported by our annual budget rather than by the blue missions envelopes.

We also support through our budget some internal missions within Christ United Methodist Church.

If you have a soft spot in your heart for a particular mission and would like to see it spotlighted as a Mission of the Month, please come and let us know about it or email us at missions@cumclansdale.org.

** UPDATE **

We have received an update from Scott and Jen Tibbetts, the missionairies we support in Thailand. They say:

As dorm parents, we feel we are "anchors" for 5 families bringing the good
news of Jesus to those in Asia who have never heard.  This upcoming school
year the families of the 6 children in our dorm will be bringing Christ to
difficult places in China, Cambodia, South Thailand, and Central Thailand
(where we used to work).

We as dorm parents enable these families to send their children to the
international schools in Chiang Mai where they can receive a quality
education in English.  As families feel secure that their children are well
taken care of, they can continue their evangelizing, discipling, and
leadership training with a greater peace of mind.

Our dorm statement of purpose states that we are here for:

              Loving and discipling
                  the kids of those
              Loving and discipling
                        Asia

Thank you for partnering with us to bring Christ to Asia!

Much thanks to our God*:

* We now have a confirmed dorm assistant, Tyson Conner, who will work with
us through December.  He is the second oldest in a family of 7 children.
Tyson came to Thailand for this semester to take Thai and other classes as
he works toward college graduation in May 2011.  His classes are in the
mornings which gives him the freedom to work with us in the
afternoons/evenings and weekends.

* Scott had a great visit with his family in June at his parents' 50th
wedding anniversary celebration.  He also enjoyed a special week with
Matthew in Texas as Matthew introduced him to his life and friends at Teen
Mania's Honor Academy.

* Matthew enjoyed his year at the Honors Academy so much that he's staying
on another year as a Core Advisor.  This means that he will be mentoring and
discipling 10 young men as well as having continued opportunities to grow in
his own spiritual walk.  He also plans to begin doing college classes
through CollegePlus.

* We've had lots of good family time this summer reconnecting with Joshua,
Nathan, and Alysha.  Last week we had a fun hike at a beautiful natural
gorge and river.

* One of our househelpers, Eid, has been learning to share her faith in the
neighborhood with Jen.  We had a neat opportunity to share the gospel with
two sisters in their 20s - Nui and Gung.  Please pray that they will receive
Christ.

*Please continue looking to Him:

** While the turbulent "red shirt" situation in Thailand is no longer front
page news, the tensions have never been resolved.  Please pray for peace and
for many people to come to know the Prince of Peace, Jesus.

* The Thai, at 0.5% Christian, still need their hearts opened to receive
Jesus as Lord and Savior.

* For us as we prepare for a new school year beginning Aug 11 (our 20th
wedding anniversary).  *Anchors Away!*

August 4 marks 13 years since we set foot in Thailand.  We are grateful for
how you have been such a big part in our continued ministry here.

Love in Him,

Scott, Jen, Matthew, Joshua, Nathan and Alysha
