Children and Youth Ensembles

Cherub Choir -
Children's ensemble (K-2nd grade).
Director: Linda Wagner
Children learn songs that praise God and teach God's love. In this ensemble, children will also get a chance to play melody bells to accompany familiar tunes.

Carol Choir - Children's ensemble (3rd-6th grades).
Director: Sherry Harris
Children are taught the love of Jesus Christ through patience and dedication. Children begin part singing and sing a variety of songs from hymns to praise songs. This group participates in Choir Camp every summer and a choir festival every third year.

Youth Choir - Youth ensemble (7th- 12th grades).
Director: Katie McCarter
The youth in this ensemble learn two to three part songs, depending on the size of the choir. It is a group that shows the joy of a life journey with God through their music and their energy in rehearsals.

Melody Chimes - Children's handbell ensemble (4th -6th grades).
Director: Linda Wagner
Children who participate in this ensemble play melody chimes, which is a precursor to handbells. Children work together to praise Jesus and express his word through their music. The ability to read music is strongly recommended but not required.

Agape Ringers -
Youth handbell ensemble (7th-12th grades).
Director: Elysa Dickinson
Agape ringers learn beginning handbell techniques and improve music reading. This ensemble has a special talent to spread Jesus' love through the sanctuary no matter what piece they have chosen.

Signing Choir - Multi-generational sign language choir.
Director: Deb Knerr
The signing choir adds a visual dimension to music by signing to recorded or live music.  At times, drama is also incorporated.  Members currently range in age from 8-years-old through adult.  The signing choir participates in worship services at CUMC approximately once a month, and occasionally participates in events at other churches.  This group has much fun while learning to express themselves through music and movement to the Lord.  Weekly practices are held on Sundays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM.  Beginning signers are welcome (just follow the leader!)  Caution - you may get "hooked" and want to learn more sign language.
